Series of letters written to and by Henry Martin during his tenure as Superindendent of Indian Affiairs in the 1860s. Two 1861 lettters to Commissioner of Indian Affairs William P. Dole, both written by Martin in Salt Lake City, include Martin's descriptions of Mormons encamped on Indian Reserve land in Utah (with an "intention to...hold possession"), of conflicts between Ute Indians and white settlers, and of his sending contracts to Jones and Carwright for "freighting United States Indian Good...
